Jewelry, objects of personal adornment prized for the craftsmanship going into their creation and generally for the value of their components as well modern jewelry.

Throughout the centuries and from culture to culture, the materials considered rare and beautiful have ranged from shells, bones, pebbles, tusks, claws, and wood to so-called precious metals, precious and semiprecious stones, pearls, corals, enamels, vitreous pastes, and ceramics. In certain eras, artist-craftsman have sometimes placed less emphasis on the intrinsic value of materials than on their aesthetic function as components contributing to the effect of the whole. Thus, they might fashion a brooch out of steel or plastic rather than gold or platinum. Furthermore, in addition to its decorative function, during much of its history jewelry has also been worn as a sign of social rank—forbidden by sumptuary laws to all but the ruling classes—and as a talisman to avert evil and bring good luck. During the Middle Ages, for example, a ruby ring was thought to bring its owner lands and titles, to bestow virtue, to protect against seduction, and to prevent effervescence in water—but only if worn on the left hand.

Materials And Methods

The first materials used to make objects for personal adornment were taken from the animal and vegetable world. The material taken from the animal world, in a natural or processed form, constituted the actual adornment, whereas vegetable fibers served as its support. A great variety of shells and pieces of shells were used during the prehistoric age and are still used in certain island and coastal cultures to make necklaces, bracelets, pendants, and headdresses. In the inland regions, the first materials used for personal adornment came from mammoths’ tusks, the horns of reindeer and other animals, and, later on, amber and lignite.

All materials that have been used over the centuries for the manufacture of jewelry have undergone to some extent mechanical, physical, or chemical treatment for the purpose of transforming their raw shapes into shapes that, in addition to being functional, also satisfy certain aesthetic concepts.

While accepting the Woman of the Decade award at the Billboard Women in Music event, Taylor Swift took the opportunity to shed light on an issue that’s going on in the music industry. More precisely, in her acceptance speech, the superstar slammed Scooter Braun, with whom she’s been at war over him buying the masters to her first six albums!

‘I saw that as a woman in this industry, people will always have slight reservations about you, whether a male was actually responsible in the studio or whether it was a really savvy record label [that were responsible for my success],’ she told the audience.

She went on: ‘Lately there has been a new shift that’s affected me personally, and I feel like I need to bring it up. And that is the unregulated world of private equity and the people buying your music…[like] it is a shoe line. This happened to me without my own approval, my consultation, or my consent. And of course, Scooter never contacted me or anyone on my team to discuss this prior to the sale or when it was announced.’

But Taylor stressed her opinion that he most likely did it on purpose and knew all too well how she would feel about it.

She even called out the concept of toxic masculinity, saying that in the music industry, the very definition of a ‘toxic male privilege’ is having people defend him by arguing that he’d always been nice to them when the actual topic of an artist owning the rights to their creation is brought up.

She pretty much called out all of his supporters and she did not stop there!

Taylor argued that it’s no surprise he would be nice to people.

After all, ‘if you are in this room, you have something that he needs!’

Unique Steam Sale Going On Now, The Game Awards Sale, Highlighting Final Nominees

We must rescind prior statements; there aren’t always the same sales every year on Steam.  In a move that many weren’t expecting, Valve has brought yet another sale to our wincing wallets.  This sale only lasts today and tomorrow (December 12th and 13th), so it’s very much going to be over fast.  The titles on sale are those that have been nominated for various categories, along with past winners from 2018 – 2014.

Not all titles that have won awards, or in the running for awards, are on sale.  Certain titles still retain their full price for various reasons, although it’s not always the ones you would expect. Unique Steam Sale Going On Now, The Game Awards Sale, Highlighting Final Nominees.

The recently launched Red Dead Redemption 2 from Rockstar that struggled to maintain a player base on the Steam platform after releasing everywhere else first (and its somehow botched launch with heavy crashing experienced for the majority of users) is on sale on the platform at 20% off.  Gears 5, the title that has had issues with pleasing their longtime fans, is also once again 50% off.

Other titles, such as Dead or Alive 6 that was released in early 2019, and struggled to please consumers with its impressive $1,428 of DLC remains full price at $60.

So there appears to be very little rhyme or reason between the various developers in what they’re offering, with many prices higher than they were on the most recent Steam Autumn Sale.

Yet if you’ve neglected to pick up a title on your wishlist, and it’s on sale still, it may behoove you to pick it up in this surprise sale.

This isn’t the end of it, however.  The mysterious stream that is due to begin December 12, 1730, Pacific time.

Tuning into the stream allows users to receive free games or even a free Valve Index VR kit.  To help ensure users don’t miss the experience, Valve is also testing an email/mobile phone reminders that they plan to roll out further shortly.

The sudden Steam sale, while scarce offerings are to be found, are offerings nonetheless that gamers wouldn’t have had access to without.

Of additional note is the tag-line for Steam’s The Game Awards; ‘Play great games before they’re released’.  This insinuates that Valve may be rolling out their service soon to rival Origin’s Access or Humble Bundle’s Vault.  Alternatively, the tagline may mean no more than the selected few games that are available as trials for the next 48 hours.

Everything will be answered rather soon, we just need to sit tight and wait for the details.

Miley Cyrus’ family members “really love” her boyfriend Cody Simpson, source says

After having been friends with Miley Cyrus for so long before they started dating, it’s safe to say that Cody Simpson is already part of her family! That said, the parents of the singer and the actress had nothing against their relationship, they really loved Cody!

Not to mention that he just spent Thanksgiving with the whole family and they all had so much fun during the holidays that they kissed Cody even more!

The two men were romantically linked for the first time in October and it seems they continue to be strong.

And since Cody knows her girlfriend’s family well at this point, she’s getting ready to meet her too!

Apparently, her mother, Angie Simpson, is expected to leave Australia for the United States later this month!
